A short walk from the more touristy center of Ravenna is this charming neighborhood trattoria. Pretty garden area in back, excellent food, gracious service.

Directions: From Ravenna's centro, walk up Via Cavour through the Porta Adriana. Via Maggiore is the main street that continues through the gate, and Chilo is around 3 blocks up on the left.

We were looking for a more "neighborhood" restaurant, and so wandered through the gate at the top of Via Cavour onto busy Via Maggiore. Amid the small shops and bars was Trattoria Chilo. We ate out back on the terrace.

We shared an antipasto of fiore stuffed with ricotta, served with fried shreds of zucchini. I found the stuffing a bit too strong from an overabundence of anchovy, but the zucchini shreds were wonderfully crisp and light. A Lasagnette de Pesce was really wonderful. Thin sheets of pasta layered with bits of fresh fish, shrimp, mussels, tomato and wine. The plate was finished with whole mussels and shrimp, and every bite was excellent. We also had a grilled filet of beef with arugula and balsamic which was quite good.

One antipasto, one primo and one secondo, with a half liter of house wine and two espresso coffees, was 39.
