Directions: On the main road through Roero, in the hills west of Canale. This place was recommended by someone in the area as a place for simple local cooking. There's a covered patio at the back, and a friendly vibe. There's no written menu, but verbal choices of a few things. You essentially eat until you can't any more. We were brought several antipasti--an ordinary vitello tonnato, some good bruschetta with a savory tomato-meat topping, slices of excellent salumi. We each had a bowl of pasta--a homemade tajarin (thin egg noodles) in an excellent light ragu, and green ravioli in sage butter. We had to stop at this point, but we saw others going on to great-smelling roast veal. With a bottle of cheap local wine, water and coffee the bill was €30 for two.
