Trattoria e Pizzeria al "19" is a lively, bright and popular place worthy of its popularity. The food was delicious and pure.

Directions: From the bus/public parking area go up to the right and then up to the left.

For 56 euros we shared an "Antipasto Vegetarian" where there were green beans so soft and sweet in flavor, grilled radicchio which had a biting flavor as it should, lightly breaded eggplant, zucchini with peppers and mushrooms. A very nice plate indeed.

From there we shared a plate of Buccatini with a delightful mix of tomato and ham.

I had the scallopini lemone and Rob a grilled pork chop. We both ordered arrosta potato and only needed one order, oh well.

We had a bottle of Nuvello Vino Rosso which was the most popular choice at "al 19". It was a deep ruby red but light on the palette, and we had a bottle of aqua frizzante which was so soft--compared to say Peligrino--and very sweet.

We finished with two caffes and of course grappa.

They had a lovely cart filled with gorgeous tortes and fresh pineapple but we were definitely too full to take another bite.

Though we didn't have one, pizza is one of the specialties - served large and thin. Bright lights, clean, friendly and packed! We had looked at other places but clearly this is THE place in Frascati.

The front room has seating for 45 or so, and they have a second room where a private party was going on. The second room probably holds another 40 plus.

I can see "al 19" would be one of our core places to enjoy a dinner or two or... if we spent more time in this area, just outside of Rome.
