Our group wandered into this restaurant because it was one of the first trattorias we saw, we were hungry and it looked pretty. Indeed it is a rustic, homey spot but large, seating over 60. And that may have been the problem. The service was incredibily slow, our food seemed like it took forever to get to our table. In our group of 8, I think 2 people were served when everyone else was just about finished. To be fair, it may have been an off day and I think there were technical problems in the kitchen. The pizzas and pasta dishes were good enough but not outstanding. The restaurant did seem to cater to tourists, as the menu was available in English, French and German, not always a good sign. It was at least an inexpensive meal. Perhaps what also made the wait so annoying was that we were anxious to do some alabaster browsing. At any rate, based on this experience, one might to better in Volterra. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
