Delicious freshwater fish in a family-style 1950 ambiance in Visso, on the way from Umbria to the Piano Grande di Castelluccio

Directions: Just off the main Piazza of Visso

Once a year we go to Castelluccio di Norcia to see the summer blooming. Visso is a nice half way stop from Assisi and we never miss to have lunch at Trattoria Richetta.

The ambiance and the food are genuinely family style. The menu is simple and traditional with all ingredients being of the highest quality. This time we had the sweetest melon with a very good prosciutto, delicious paper thin white lasagne with mushrooms and peas, lovely fresh trout grilled on the hot coals with Swiss chard and roast potatoes.

Make sure to get to the village before 11:00 a.m. because the restaurant fills up quickly with locals. Ask them to keep you a table, stroll in the lovely piazza, step into the church to see the remarkable “rustic” frescoes and go back to enjoy your meal. Highly recommended.
