Mediocre food in a city full of great restaurants.

I really wanted to like this restaurant after reading the stellar review on this site. We went on a Tuesday evening at 8:30 or so and were the only patrons. That didn't bother me too much as it was still relatively early. But by the time we left quite a bit later, we were still the only customers - never a good sign! It wasn't that the food was bad, it was just OK, nothing special. I believe we had a salad and a pasta primi and a veal dish for a secondi.

The house wine was passable. The service was nice enough. Maybe we just felt strange being the only people in the restaurant, hit them on an off night, or my expectations were too high. But with so many other wonderful restaurants in Florence, I would give this a pass. It was our only disappointing meal in the whole week we were in Florence.

Tutti bene!

I have been enjoying Roberto's on my frequent trips to Florence since a Florentine introduced me there 6 years ago. I visit Florence 3-4 times a year for 2-3 weeks at a time and this is my hands down favorite. It is family run, with Franco and Momma in the kitchen and Allessandro and Antonio waiting tables. If you are looking for fancy, this is not the place.

The food is fresh and delicious. Ask for the freshest fish of the day or tell Franco what you want and he will go to the market the following day and have it ready when you get there.

For two of us, our bill averages 60-80 with multple courses and 2 bottles of good wine. His polpo is the best anywhere! And my friends love the Bistecca Fiorentina. I have taken family and friends there over the years and recommend Roberto's to everyone I know.

Follow the Arno (river on your right) past the Uffizi and Via Castellani will be on your left. Roberto's is on your right. Tell them Kim sent you!
