Lively trattoria just outside Ravenna's centro. The food is excellent, though the owner is quite a character and more than a bit bossy. No written menu.

Directions: From Ravenna's centro, walk up Via Cavour and through the Porta Adriana. Rustichello is just ahead, on the right corner.

We had noticed this busy place one night when we were at another restaurant in the neighborhood, so decided to give it a try. There's a menu outside, but once you're seated, the owner will come over to tell you what he has that day--and, what he thinks you should eat. He will not let you or anyone else escape without the house antipasto. He's a bit overbearing, but the food is quite good. It is very helpful to understand some Italian.

Yes, we had the house antipasto. A selection of marinated and roasted vegetables, some salumi, and piadini. Not bad, but what followed was much better. A special of the day was small cheese-filled pasta with a rich asparagas sauce. One split between the two of us was perfect. We followed this with some roast lamb (not the veal the owner sulked about us not ordering). This lamb was insanely wonderful--roasted with rosemary, salt and garlic, served with some roast potatoes and sauteed spinach.

An antipasto, one primo, one secondo, two contorni, and a half litre of house wine was €34.
