Fine meal in Norcia

It was difficult to choose among the restaurants recommended in Norcia for the one lunch that we were there for, but we finally decided that La Francese had the most interesting menu.

The restaurant was lively and really filled after we arrived. Its central feature is a roaring open woodburning grill.

The three of us shared one Antipasto Truffle Francese. This was a delightful assortment of prosciutto, speck, truffled omelet, bruschetta, and gnocchi.

For primi 2 of us had delicious gnocchi with a gorgonzola and walnut cream sauce and the other had tortellini with gorgonzola.

Secondi were a veal scallopine with lemon for one of us and two of us each ordered the mixed grill of grilled sausage, lamb rib chop, and a huge pork chop.

We also had a delicious side dish of cippoline agrodolce in a balsamic sauce.

With water, 1 1/2 liters of a local red wine, 1 panna cotta, 3 grappa, and 1 coffee, the meal came to €93.

Overall, it was a delightful meal.

Good mom and pop style restaurant in Norcia.

We go to this restaurant every year before driving to the pian grande and Castelluccio. Basic, but good Umbrian offering. Several very good tartufo dishes. The two of us usually eat a 3 course meal for 50 to 60 euros including wine.
