Anyplace the police eat usually has good food. This one is no exception

Directions: A block or so north of Piazza Signorelli, just across the street from the carabiniere station

We ducked into this nicely decorated little place on a whim, based on the menu board out front, which promised some dishes that were a bit different from what it appeared that every place in Tuscany offered.

Inside we found one table full of policemen from across the street, a few other populated by Italians, and one other anchored by English speaking tourists. We took note of a picture that indicated a relationship to a restaurant in Hudson, New York, called "Ca Mea." It turned out it is owned by the brother of Trattoria Toscana.

This place is truly a family affair, run by the Cenci's. For those who are "Italian challenged," the boss speaks English.

My choice for lunch was veal limone, which was quite good, and very lemony. My wife ad a gnocchi dish that was also quite tasty (I sampled a bit), with a tangy sauce.

The bruschetta was a bit disappointing, having little real flavor other than oil and consisting only of a slab of tomato on bread, and the "insalata mista" was not mixed anything, being only a plate of lettuce. Despite this I think the restaurant is worth trying, as the main dishes were quite good and the prices were reasonable. With acqua minerale, wine, and cover charge the bill was 27 euros.
