Lovely restaurant in Lazio, serving Tuscan food.

Directions: 60 meters from Castello degli Orsini

Small, elegant restaurant run by Bobo (Robert). I had pecorino with honey and grapes to start, Steve a simple Bruschetta. We both had trofie with pesto and rucola. Steve had sea bass (said it was the best fish of the trip) and I had a very good grilled vegetable plate.

Bobo said the best olive oil comes from Liguria, Tuscany or Umbria. Usually people recommend only the olive oil of the region they are from, so it was unusual to hear someone in Lazio recommend oil from another region. Website: www.ristolandia.com/Lazio/Roma/un_altra_bottiglia/home.htm

Restaurant and Enoteca (wine bar) featuring Tuscan dishes and wines.

Directions: Central Lazio- 30 km. NW of Rome. Bracciano is easy to reach coming from North or South using turnoffs from either the Via Aurelia (A12) or the Via Cassia (2). Paid parking under the main Town Square(Piazza del Comune).

I like this restaurant for the superb food and the tasteful and welcoming decor. Roberto, the owner, does all the cooking (including fabulous deserts), and also manages to greet and bid goodbye to his guests, oversees wine choices, and sets the convivial atmosphere. Tuesdays and Fridays feature live jazz, and local artists show their paintings here regularly. The average price of a meal is $35-50, depending on the wine you choose. The indoor room seats 40, and in good weather there are tables outside for about 20 more.
