Our host hotel suggested this one and what a gem in an old house set back off the road!!! What food and service!!

Directions: Heading out of town towards Nepi, the ristorante is on the left in an old house just about 1-2 km from the castle just after the road turns to the left.

Our host hotel, Relais Falisco, made reservations for us here and was a little tough to find though it is on the main road but the large sign out front made it a little easier. You enter the drive through a barrier of Italian cypress tree to the car park to the left of the house. You are greeted warmly and seated immediately.

The food it amazing and was one of the best meals we had this trip!!

We started by sharing two antipasti which they split for us to share- zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta and pesto. The flowers were not fried like others but stuffed with the ricotta filling and warmed. The mouth cannot describe the taste of this one!! The other was mozzarella di bufala with a colatello, the cadillac of prosciutto's. We were oohing and aahhing over the antipasti alone.

Next came the Primi- a pasta with pesto for my wife which was none she had ever tasted-light pasta and the sauce flavorful but not overbearing as some pestos can be. I had stuffed pillow of pasta with ricotta and black truffle. My mouth is still trying to recover from those!! Yummy...

For secondi, she had a filet of beef with parmesan done to a perfect medium rare and was very tender and flavorful. I hast the filet of pork with a marsala and raspberry reduction. The tender little medallions of pork with the sauce were just amazing!

I finished it off, though I shouldn't have, with a caramel panna cotta that was so sweet and rich and served in a jelly jar. Unique presentation but it was perfect!!

With 1/2 liter of wine, water and coffee, the tab was 81. Not bad at all for a meal like that one!!

It's a winner!!
