We loved our lunch at the Villa Maria ... worth every step of the climb to the restaurant!

The villa itself is exquisite, surrounded by splendid views and filled with charming antiques and lovely old china. The staff could not be more amiable nor the food more delicious.

The Villa Maria is famous for its crepes, but since I cannot eat the cheese and cream with which the crepes are filled and sauced, I have a risotto with mussels and pumpkin that is possibly the best - most perfectly cooked risotto I have ever had. Debbie and Martin are given generous tastes too, and they agree that this is one incredible dish. While they have crepes filled with ricotta and spinach, and another with prosciutto and mozzarella, I have a superb spaghetti con vongole verace, which is also as good as it gets. Debbie and Martin cannot take time to taste the spaghetti because they are too busy scarfing down the amazing crepes. Next comes a lovely crisp salad with a gently acidic dressing.

We are more than satisfied with this lunch, but seeing how much we are enjoying the food, Martin is talked into trying another specialty of the house - the profiteroles with lemon cream. Debbie has fresh pineapple and I have fresh strawberries. It is a meal to remember, and I would willingly make the climb again for another such repast.

Although we really enjoyed the hotel and recommend it, I can’t say as much for their restaurant -- which has been given some good reviews.

Again, we found the meal was not worth the cost. We ate much better at less expensive places. We felt the food was quite inferior.

Giordano & "Villa Maria" is a hotel with a swimming pool and a restaurant. The luncheon we had there was one of the high points of our trip.

Every single thing we were served was exquisite; the portions were generous and service was friendly and accommodating; the restaurant was exceptionally lovely and the views were incredible. We were made to feel both like old friends and honored guests. I would go way out of my way to eat here again.
