Positano: Chez Black

Beautiful, romantic, perfect location right on the beach. The restaurant where the famous people eat.

On our wedding anniversary night we left our son with friends and went to Chez Black for a romantic dinner.

And romantic it was.

Chez Black must be one of the oldest restaurants in Positano; it's celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. On the walls there are loads of pictures with celebrities such as Denzel Washington. We were lucky to get there early, as we didn't have a reservation, because by the time we had finished our dinner the restaurant was crowded and there were even people waiting outside for their turn. Nevertheless, it was one of the most genuinely positive experiences I have had in an Italian restaurant. We had three or four waiters serving us, and they were all very attentive and nice. They speak English, but if you speak Italian they are happy to acknowledge your attempt and reply in Italian.

The meal was outstanding, all the way from the aperitivi through tortellini in brodo and pollo al diavolo with complimentary red wine to the finishing dessert - our choice was the fruit salad (macedonia) with home made icecream which was the most delicious icecream I've ever tasted. The final bill ended on €130 but the icecream alone would have been worth that...
