Navona: da Francesco

Piazza del Fico, 29 , Phone: 06 686 4009

Closing day: Lunch on Tuesday

Friendly, inexpensive, simple but delicious food from this traditional trattoria.

Directions: Tucked behind Santa Maria della Pace, near Piazza Navona.

I've become a major fan of da Francesco over the past several months. It's close to the Italian language school I was attending, so I have had lunch there more than a dozen times and have enjoyed every meal!

The menu is large, with traditional Roman trattoria fare: such pastas as cacio e pepe; wonderful grilled vegetables; and really great pizza, from the wood-fired oven.

Prices are good, service is fast and friendly, but don't expect any frills! The room is small so get there early or prepare to wait outside in the pretty piazza.
