Directions: In the Monti neighbourhood, not too far off Via Nazionale. Foodies have been talking about L'Asino d'Oro for quite a while, so I first tried dinner there in June 2011. I have been a serious fan since, having eaten there several times, most recently in mid-April 2012. The food is very creative, service attentive, and the quality of ingredients is wonderful. Best of all is the 12-euro lunch menu which includes 3 courses, a glass of wine and a bottle of water. Hard to find a better deal anywhere in Rome! There are always several meat dishes as well as lighter fare. The menu changes frequently, and the portions are not large -- this is not a trattoria! But it's a wonderful meal and a good experience. There's a lovely little patio on the street for sunny days, and a funky interior. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
