Directions: In the Monti neighbourhood, not far from Santa Maria Maggiore. I've had several great lunches now at Urbana 47 in my neighbourhood of Monti. The food is very good although prices are a bit steep - meal-sized salads with local cheeses, veggies, and grains such as farro or orzo thrown in are about 16 euros; the same for pasta dishes. The menu can be a bit complicated and some of the dishes sound odd (Roman hot dogs for 19 euro?) which I wouldn't want to try. Bu there are plenty of pasta dishes, meat, and interesting soups. The wine list is also very good. Urbana 47 also offers tasting menus starting at 35 euros for three courses and running up to six courses for 55 euros. Somehow that just didn't appeal to me, especially at lunch. The emphasis here is really on local and very fresh ingredients drawn from the province of Lazio, where Rome is located. Much of the vintage and eclectic furniture in the small restaurant is also for sale. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
