Our favourite restaurant in Rome. Interesting menu, very popular. We arrived early and enjoyed an excellent meal in September 2007.

Directions: On the very small Piazza della Cancelleria, just off Campo dei Fiori. If you orient yourself with the statue of Giordano Bruno, the via de Baullari, on the right at the top of the Campo, leads to the Piazza.

On our second last evening in Rome in September 2007, we enjoyed an early dinner, arriving at 8:00pm, at at outside table at this very popular restaurant.

We shared an antipasti - flori di zucca con ricotta di pecorino e salsa alla erbe. Our primi were - crespella con porcini e asparagi (asparagus crepe with porcini mushrooms) and calamari dei pastai gragmenesi (hard wheat pasta with crab meat and creamed artichokes.) For our secondi we selected tagliatidi spada con trito aromatico e patate al pesto (grilled swordfish with aromatic herbs and potatoes with pesto sauce) and spiedino fi filetto al sesami con caramello di aceti balsamico (veal fillet kebob with sesame and balsamic vinegar sauce). All our selections were very good. The bill, which included a liter of water, a bottle of wine and two espresso was 76 euro.

Other reviews mention the sometimes brusque service, but we have nothing but positive comments about our visit to Ditirambo. There was a line-up to get in as we left around 10:00pm. Highly recommended.

Well worth a visit.

Directions: Just off Campo de Fiori

We had gone in 2000 and were pleasantly surprised that it was a five minute walk from our apartment. Stand-out dishes here were seafood lasagna - light, flavorful, memorable; rabbit with olives; and pistachio gelato with black pepper finely ground on top. Try it yourself. A reviewer thought the tables here are too close together, but I find that a lot in Rome. It is so much better now that there is no smoking inside restaurants.
