Review 1005: Vacanza Bella, Frattina B

Review by millie from NY who is a SlowTrav Contributor

2bed/2bath apartment near Spanish Steps, Rome

June 25, 2004 to July 3, 2004, 8 nights

This apartment is located on the corner of Via Gambero and Via Frattina which is a pedestrian street several blocks from the Spanish Steps. It was very convenient to tourist sites such as the Spanish Steps, Trevi, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, San Luigi, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, etc. It was an easy walk to the Metro, very close to Piazza San Silvestro which is a hub for a number of bus lines and also Corso which also has several bus stops and a lot of activity. It was a little noisy in the late evening but nothing that disturbed our sleep.

Nearby Amenities

Two different cappucino bars located a half block away; three blocks from Via Della Croce if you want some spectacular pastries in the morning. A Despar grocery store is located just off Piazza San Silvestro which is a three minute walk from the apartment. If you have young people who love to snack, there's an AutoGrill two blocks away.

The House/Apartment

The apartment building has a number of flats but we never saw any of the other occupants. There's a small lift after you get up the first set of stairs. The buildin is historic and in excellent condition.

No outside sitting area or terrace.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment itself was very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. We were comfortable right away. There are two loveseats and a small table for four in the living room/kitchen area; more than enough for our family.

The apartment had one bedroom with twin beds and a small bathroom with stand up shower. The room was large, with a small table and chair and bureau. Lighting was excellent and the beds were comfortable. You walk through this room to get to the master bedroom which had a very comfortable queen size bed and larger bathroom with tub/shower combination. There was also a closet/dressing room where we kept all of our clothes.

The kitchen has a small frig, microwave, oven and dishwasher. Although we did not cook, there was more than enough dishes and cutlery for meals, all good quality.

Problems or Bonuses

Although the pictures on the Vacanza Bella site fairly depict this apartment, we were surprised at how spacious and airy it was. The floor is a beautiful tile that felt lovely on our hot tired feet at night. We left the windows open all day and it was pleasant whenever we returned.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We were treated very well by Daniel at Vacanza Bella. The onsite contact, Amalia was superb. We had to call twice about the appliances and she was very responsive. Spoke beautiful English and gave us some neighborhood tips.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would recommend this apartment without reservation and would stay there again if possible.
