Review 1022: Venice Rentals, San Maria Formosa

Review by AJ from PA

apartment sleeps 4 - 6, Venice

July 2004, 3 nights

Located off a beautiful square in a quiet (for Venice) street. Located on the second floor of apartment building. Buildings are close together in Venice. Lovely area away from really busy tourist traffic yet close enough to walk to sights.

Nearby Amenities

Walking is the means of transportation in Venice. There was a grocery store 5 minutes away and many other shops and restaurants within 2 - 10 minute walk. Fresh produce stall, restaurant, ATM and cafe in the square 2 minutes from the apartment.

The House/Apartment

Apartment was very clean and well kept.

No outside seating. No pool.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture was in fairly good shape. One large couch and large armchair in living room. Dining table seats 4 with extra chairs in kitchen.

Main bedroom bed (queen) was firm but comfy. Twins were not as comfy according to kids but were OK. There were 2 bathrooms, both with toilet, sink and bidet and one with shower. There was a small washing machine in one bathroom. All were very clean and well maintained.

Smallish kitchen but perfectly adequate. We didn't cook full meals but it looked like there were sufficient pots and pans available.

Problems or Bonuses

The apartment was a lot bigger and nicer than I had expected. It was a little dark but that was clearly stated on the description so we knew ahead of time.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

From my first email to Denise at Venice Rentals, I was very impressed! Denise provided a lot of useful information in her emails. Her representative, Theresa, met us at the vaporetto stop and walked us to the apartment giving useful information as we walked. She was very friendly.

While we were in Venice, we needed assistance with a medical emergency and Denise and Maurizio assisted us with making an emergency appointment.

Price was comparable to hotels in the area for a family room. We paid 225 euros/night for 3 nights. Rate would have been lower if we had stayed for a full week.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would definitely recommend Venice Rentals to others and would contact them again for a return visit. I liked the extras provided (i.e. grocery shopping service, ability to prepay for rental in US).

Things to do in this area

Venice is a lovely city with many, many attractions. We would recommend taking the boat to the islands of Murano (glass making) and Burano (lace making).
