houses on an estate near Sarteano, Tuscany South WhenJuly 2004, 2 days LocationTenuta di Spineto is a 2500 acre estate in Southern Tuscany, the closest town being Sarteano, 3 miles away, and Chiusi, a little further away. The area is also near Val'dOrcia. The property consists of rolling hils, lakes and valleys. There is a horse stable on the property also, and horseback riding is available. There are 9-10 farmhouses on the estates that, over the years, have been restored and updated, many with swimming pools. One of the houses, La Foresteria, is used as a bed and breakfast. There is a conference center on the property, as well as an abbey. We attended a wedding at the abbey, with all of the wedding party staying at several of the farmhouses. The reception was also held at one of the farmhouses. All arrangements for the wedding were taken care of by the staff at the property. Nearby AmenitiesThe closest town/restaurants/shopping is located in Sarteano. A car is a must for the property. The farmhouses are dotted throughout the property, some being several miles from each other. The House/ApartmentWe stayed in L'Ocaiolo. This is a beautiful, stone, 2 story farmhouse. The interior has been restored with stone floors, modern very large kitchen, 2 fire places, 7 bedrooms, each with a private bath. There is also a pool and ping pong table. The furniture is very comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped. GardenThe outside area includes a large flat front grassy area. The pool is on the side of the house with several lounge chairs surrounding the pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good shape. It included modern amenities, mixed in with several antiques throughout the house. The beds were very comfortable. The design of the house was very tastefully done. The house was very clean and was cleaned every day. There was enough seating for everyone in the downstairs living room. There was another sitting room upstairs, with another fireplace. The dining room had enough seating for 10-12 people. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were very comfortable. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, very large. Tastefully decorated. Large armoires in most of the bedrooms. KitchenVery large, modern, usable kitchen with enough pots, pans and dishes for a large party. Agency and Representatives (and price)Booked through the property manager, Beatrice, via email. Christina greeted us upon arrival. You must go to the conference center to check in, then you are escorted to your farmhouse. Everyone in the office speaks fluent English. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? If you crave seclusion and a very peaceful setting, this is a good place to be. A car is a must on the property. Some of the roads are very narrow, country roads. The views are incredible. We went there for a wedding and stayed 2 days. It was a great wedding/family reunion venue.
