2 bed/1bath apartment near the Vatican, Rome WhenMay 29 - June 8, 2004, 10 days LocationIn San Pietro area of Rome, 15 minute walk to Vatican. Although this location is close to the Vatican, it's a bit out of the way for most other Rome attractions. You'll have to take a taxi or metro, but a taxi stop and metro station are both about a 5 minute walk away, very close! I think this location gives you a good exposure to city life in Rome, maybe a bit less touristy than other places. Nearby AmenitiesGrocery store about 5 blocks away, but better yet, there's a huge open air market open daily, except Sunday. The market has breads, meat, produce, even clothing and incidentals like laundry soap. Gelati close by, and an english pub right across the courtyard. Multiple restaurants within 5 - 10 minute walk. The House/ApartmentBuilding was in good shape, very secure with locking gate and locking doors to stairwell. Apartment was in very good repair, clean and well stocked. Only thing missing was an iron. GardenNo pool, the garden was fine, but we didn't spend any time there. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasAll furniture was in good repair and clean. Satellite TV gets many channels. Bedrooms/BathroomsOne bathroom with very small shower, but adequate. Two bedrooms, one with full size bed, one with two twin beds. Master bedroom overlooks courtyard, other bedroom overlooks the street. KitchenKitchen was well stocked, including coffee maker, toaster oven, all dishes and utensils. Problems or BonusesNo problems. The pleasant suprise was it was exactly as the photos on the web site showed. Agency and Representatives (and price)I dealt personally with Federico and Susan, both spoke English perfectly and both were very professional. Susan was helpful with setting up a car to pick us up on several occasions. The drivers they used were ALWAYS reliable, arrived as scheduled, and courteous. One driver had to wait a long time for us at the airport since we lost some luggage. He was patient, yet charged us an extra 10 or 20 euros, which was fair. For booking I had to a wire transfer the deposit into their Italian bank. I was nervous about this but it worked fine. I paid the remainder when I arrived, exactly as they had quoted, no suprises. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes I would stay here again. Things to do in this areaDon't miss the open air market. Not only will you find good prices on food, but it's a great Italian experience. You'll have fun trying to communicate with the merchants.
