I would like to repeat the earlier report headed WARNING - AVOID Camere Giuliano in Vernazza and to thank the person who posted it.

I read Slow Travel's reviews and liked the sound of Camere Giuliano in Vernazza, in spite of this warning.

In July 2004 I exchanged several emails with Giuliano, the owner, the last one on 12 July containing our American Express credit card details to confirm our booking for five nights from 30 August 2004.

Because of the warning on this site, on 9 August I forwarded to Giuliano the emails we had exchanged with a new message stating that we were looking forward to our stay with him. Within a couple of hours I received a reply stating he did not have our reservation. I promptly sent a final email asking if he had a room available and have received no reply.

As a result I am better off than the people who posted the first warning but instead of knowing where we are staying on the Cinque Terre I now have to quickly arrange accommodation before we start our holiday in seven days time.

I am most disappointed at this attitude to what I considered a confirmed booking.
