Apartment in villa, sleeps 2, near Colle Val d'Elsa, Tuscany West WhenMay 2004, 7 days LocationLocated about 1 mile from the old town of Colle Val d'Elsa. Private location, beautiful scenery around, very peaceful and quiet. Nearby AmenitiesNearest grocery store (Coop), was about 2 miles away. Pharmacia less than 1 mile. Several excellent restaurants in the old town as well as some in the newer section of town. The House/ApartmentI couldn't say it any better, so here's a quote from the La Bella Toscana website: "Tana de' Lepri, with its roots in medieval times, was once a convent which gave hospitality to pilgrims passing along the 'Via Francigena' to Rome. Today it is a beautiful villa which has recently been restored by its current owners with loving care and great respect for its unique architectural heritage." This building has been restored to perfection! GardenA very nice private sitting area just outside our door and also next to the pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was immaculate, tastefully decorated, extremely clean, everything worked to perfection. Bedrooms/BathroomsWe had 1 queen size bed and 1 bath. Bedroom and bath were clean and neat. KitchenLiving room with kitchen area. We only cooked breakfast but there would be not problem cooking all meals there. Good quality pots, pans, and dishes. Problems or BonusesNo bad surprises; everything was excellent. Agency and Representatives (and price)La Bella Toscana treated us just fine. Our host at Tana di Lepri, Hillary, treated us just like family. She spoke limited English, but just enough to help us tremendously. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Highly recommended. Would stay there again! No qualifications, this place was superb. Things to do in this areaHillary can recommend restaurants in the area; there are some really good ones. This is a very good spot for touring Tuscany. San Gimignano and Siena are not far. We also visited Florence, Pisa, Arezzo, and other towns. Actually, we had better food in Tuscany than we did in Rome. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
