2bed/1bath apartment in the historic center, Rome WhenJune 2004, one week LocationThe apartment was 5 minutes to Piazza Navona, 10 minutes to Campo dei Fiori and 15 minutes to the Vatican. The location was superb and we walked everywhere! The apartment is on the 2nd floor on a small but busy street during the daytime. At night, with the shutters closed it was very quiet. Nearby AmenitiesLots of restaurants within easy walking distance. Also plenty of small grocery stores as well as the great morning market at Campo dei Fiori for fruit and veggies. The House/ApartmentThe building has about 4 or 5 floors with the apartment on the 2nd floor. An elevator is available. The apartment was in good condition. GardenNo outside sitting area or pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasMost of the furniture was in good shape. The living room lacked adequate comfortable seating for more than two people as there was only one comfortable sofa. Another antique bench wouldn't be comfortable for more than about 5 minutes. There's a large table and four chairs for dining in the LR. The apartment was very clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsThere are two bedrooms on two levels. Both beds were comfortable. One modern tiled bathroom with separate shower. KitchenThe kitchen was usable but extremely small - large enough for only one person. It would be hard to cook a full meal for more than two people. It was however well equipped. Problems or BonusesWe were pleasantly surprised by the great location of this apartment. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency responded promptly to my inquiries and booking was easy. The photos on their website gave a very good idea of what the apartment was like. We paid a deposit by Visa with the balance paid in cash when we took possession of the apt. I don't remember the exact price but it was about 130 euros per night for 3 people. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay here again primarily because of the wonderful location. The apartment is large, bright and comfortable. It's really only lacking another sofa or loveseat in the living room. I found the price very reasonable for Rome. Things to do in this areaThe Ponte Sant'Angelo and Castel Sant'Angelo are a 5 minute walk away as is Piazza Navona. The Vatican is a leisurely 15 minute walk. We even walked to the Colosseum - about 45 minutes to one hour. We felt like we were in the 'heart' of Rome. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
