Review 1074: Le Manzinaie, Apartment

Review by Colin from UK

apartments on estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South

August 14, 2004, 1 week

Situated just outside of Montepulciano Stazione, Le Manzinaie offers a perfect base to explore the delights of Tucany and Umbria.

Nearby Amenities

Marzia (and family) graciously provided enough (and more) for our first breakfast, with the nearest small shop in Montepulciano Stazione which was about 1km or so away. A bigger supermarket, Conad, is to be found in Montepuciano, a very pleasant 15 minute drive from Le Manzinaie.

The House/Apartment

Yikes, it was beautiful. The ceilings, the views, the gardens, the small touches that made the stay so memorable. Five other apartments and residences so very homely, friendly and comfortable with a 'welcome' meal to introduce everybody.

A delightful pool shared by all accommodations. However most guests are sightseeing throughout the day so the pool area is quiet and peaceful. The gardens are typically Tuscan and very well maintaned.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

In order of importance, the bathrooms were exceptionally clean, tidy and well equipped. The bedrooms were very comfortable and nice and cool. (In August 2004 the temperature was 35C and even without the ceiling fan the rooms were cool and pleasant.) The kitchen/living area was spacious, well equipped, functional and comfortable.

The bedroom was very nice, airy and cool. The bathroom was spacious, well equipped with some pleasant and thoughtful touches.

Very useable, very well equipped, very clean and modern with toaster and coffee machine provided.

Problems or Bonuses

Problems - none. Bonuses - vegetables - location - very pleasant and accommodating owners.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The price quoted was the price paid. The description did not do justice to the property. Alicia, Marzia's daughter spoke excellent english.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Eek, well, err, um. If I recommend it, it will get busier and I may not be able to book again. However, that said, we, as a family, must without hesitation recommend Le Manzinaie without question.

Things to do in this area

Alicia provides an Itineray upon arrival, with details of Florence, Siena and San Gimignano, Cortona, plus many other fascinting and interesting places. However, Montepulciano is far less 'touristy' than most places and we spent many afternoons there watching. Yes, just watching, the countryside, the views, the people, and the world ... go ... by.
