Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 1082: Le Manzinaie, Apartment
apartments on estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South
July 2004, 2 nights
The property is located in a rural area, near Siena in Tuscany. It is situated on a very open farm. The place is very private, there is actually no houses nearby. The grounds were very quiet and peaceful yet not too far away from the local market or the hospital.
There were no places within walking distance. A small grocery is about 5 min drive away and the nearest town that has restaurants and a big grocery is about 20 min drive.
Building was built sometime around 1842(?) but it was in excellent shape. The apartment kitchen, bathroom was all updated and very clean. I think there were about 4-5 apts. Each one has a theme (rose, violet, etc) and was beautifully decorated in a country style charm.
There is a very nice pool and also a sitting, BBQ area. There is also a vegetable garden and many fruit trees which you are free to pick from.
The apartment was very clean and the furnitures were all very comfortable.
Bathroom, bedroom was all very nice, clean and comfortable.
Kitchen was well equipped. Enjoyed cooking very much. They even provided breakfast breads, water, juice for the 1st day. I cooked almost every meal while we were there and it was a joy to do it.
Problems or Bonuses
Hospitality of the owner family was exceptional. They make the place very special and memorable. They also have 2 adorable, friendly dogs.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Yes, I would highly recommend to others. Our stay at Le Manzinaie came at the end of our trip to London, Paris and Rome (July 2004) but by far it was the best part of our whole visit to Europe. The grounds were so beautiful and peaceful while the apartment was very well furnished and equipped.
Right after arriving and meeting with Marzia, Alice and Fiore, we could tell right away how hospitable they were and how they truly cared about the guests as if we were just old friends.
A prime example of their hospitality was when my husband got sick with a high fever. Fiore insisted on driving us to the nearby hospital and Alice accompanied us as the translator. They ended up staying with us at the urgent care unit for more than 4 hours!! I don't know what we would have done without their help.
While we were in the hospital, Marzia even took care of our daughter, fed her lunch and everything.
Thanks to their unending hospitality, my husband was soon well enough to travel on schedule.
If you are looking to experience the beauty of real Italian countryside and the genuine hospitality of the Italian people, you should definately plan a visit to Le Manzinaie. Because the apartment has such a well equipped kitchen it was such a treat to be able to cook your own Italian food. Using fresh vegetables from the garden, everything tasted just so so good!
Things to do in this area
Since we were there only for a short while, we did not get to see many places but the owners provided an information folder of places to visit and things to do in the area.
