We've rented "Liguria--Gorgeous, Modern, 3 BR/2BA Villa w/ Spectacular Ocean and Mountain Views" in Santa Margherita Ligure for a week starting September 4 2004 (was on the Slow Travel Classifieds).

To our regret, the place was dirty and neglected, one of the bedrooms had no windows (only tiny openings in the roof) and was not appropriate for 2 people accommodation, and the amenities did not include local phone as it said - it was blocked for outgoing calls exept emergency numbers. On top of all - the only one airconditioner in the house (which was located in the master bedroom) was only a portable one who did no cooling whatsoever.

Despite of the nice welcome of Susan Veneziano - the agent, and her good willing and trial to clean the house - the information was misleading. Some of us had to spend their nights in the living room, we could not connect our laptops as the phone was blocked, and did not enjoy the dirt at all.

And some more: The information should include also the train which passes several times each hour and disables any type of conversation on the outdoor dining terrace.

The only true fact was the view.

We will not recommend this place to any of our friends and hope no other people will have the same experience. I hope you will be able to take off this rental from your site and also advise us what steps can be taken in this situation. (The agent has removed the listing from Slow Travel.)
