2bed house in village near Teramo, Abruzzo WhenSeptember 2004, 8 days LocationThe house is located in a small village a few miles from the town of Teramo. It sits by itself down a short alleyway and was very quiet. Nearby AmenitiesNot much happening in the town. We got to meet some of the locals at a bar and a grocery store but there is not much else going on. The House/ApartmentThe place had just been finished this summer and I believe that we were one of the first people to rent (another couple along with my wife and myself). Because it was new it was in very good condition. GardenThere was a nice place to sit with an outstanding panorama right in front of the house. There is no pool and I don't know where the closest one would be. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasSomeone had just cleaned the house before we got there. The kitchen table opened up to seat eight people. The couch in the living room opened up into a bed. We did not sleep there but opened it up and it seemed very comfortable. Bedrooms/BathroomsThere are two bedrooms and the beds were comfy. One of the bedrooms had a trundle bed and when the bed was pulled out the room was rather cramped. KitchenEverything worked as advertised. We one or two meals there a day and had no major problems. Problems or BonusesThe owner was very helpful. He called me at home before we left to answer a couple of questions that my wife had. The person who manages the house in Italy, Paolo, took us personally to the house and showed us how everything worked. He also helped us fix a couple of small problems that we had and gave us some tips on good restaurants in Teramo. Agency and Representatives (and price)We paid 430$ for four people for eight days. Compared to other places we looked at the price seemed low. The other couple were worried that the house would be in bad condition because some of the villas we were considering cost three times this figure. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I don't know when we will be going back to the Abruzzo Region so I can't say if we will be able to stay at this house again. I can recommend it to others. The house is in great condition and has an outstanding view. I told my cousin about the house and he is thinking about renting it with his family next summer. It would be a great place to stay for someone who wants to get to know the Teramo area. Things to do in this areaThe town in which the house is located, Valle San Giovanni, has less than 500 people and is a bit isolated. It is too bad that there is no place to eat in the town. This might not be a good place to stay for someone who did not have a car or who was making their first trip to Italy and did not know their way around a bit. We had a rental car and were able to go to Teramo in about 10 minutes. One nice thing is that the beach was less than an hour away and you could get into the mountains in 10 minutes. A very good agriturismo is located about 2 miles away in the next town over. Our wives enjoyed Castelli, a town about 30 minutes from Valle San Giovanni, which is known for the manufacture of ceramics.
