WhenOct. 2004, 2 weeks ReviewWe enjoyed Casa Rosa most for its idyllic setting and warm ambiance. Its location in the lush Umbrian hills on the Northern flank of Mt. Subasio provided us with hours of hiking and simply drinking in the fantastic views. Nearly every morning we enjoyed our espressos while watching the sun come up over the nearby mountain, from the patio just outside our door. Even though we were there in October, we were able to make use of the swimming pool on sunny afternoons. The owner Jennifer’s abundant charm and hospitality made it easy to feel that we were at home in Casa Rosa, during our stay. Her artistic touches have really made her apartments appealing, while keeping the flavor of Casa Rosa’s farmstead origins. Despite Casa Rosa’s secluded setting, there is convenient access to a couple of restaurants within 2-3 km., one of which has a small convenience store attached. We found it easy to go into Assisi for most needs, since it is only about a 10 minute drive. Access to Assisi is gained through the northern port in the old wall, in the less touristed area of the city. A city parking garage is located there, so parking was never a problem. We found that traveling to the various Umbrian hill towns was very easy while based in the Assisi area. Both my wife and I agreed that, even if we didn’t wish didn’t wish to stay for a prolonged period in Umbria again, we loved our stay at Casa Rosa enough to consider it a destination in its own right. Apparently, so do others – we met an Australian couple during our stay, who have spent 3 months there for two years in a row!
