Review 1167: InTuscany, Le Manzinaie

Review by Theodore Gori from SC

apartments on estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South

October 19 - 26, 2004, one week

Le Manzinaie was one of the nicest places my wife and I have ever rented. The hostess, Marza and her family, treats you like family. All the rooms are decorated with pictures accented by painted borders and personal touches throughout. The rental was exceptionally clean and the kitchen fully equipped. The grounds are meticulously kept, and the location is central to everywhere in Tuscany. The best recommendation we can give Le Manzinaie is that we are planning to go back there in 2005.

Everything about this place can only be described in superlatives. I highly recommend it.

Nearby Amenities

You would need an automobile to get to town which is a few kilometers. In the town are a few restaurants all of which are good. In the same town there is a mini supermart which is very competitive on prices and well stocked.

The House/Apartment

I'm not sure if the villa is historical, but it is in excellent shape. We rented a two room apartment with two baths and everything was up to date and functional. There was another apartment in the villa.

The outside premises were very well maintained. There is a pool but we didn't use it; however, it looked very nice. The grounds are spacious and shared by all tenants.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Yes..yes...yes...yes (everthing in good shape and comfortable)

Beds were very comfortable. King sized beds. Bedrooms were very pleasant, baths fully updated, clean. There were two bathrooms.

Kitchen was fully functional. A full dinner can be prepared with no problems. We chose to eat breakfast and snacks in the kitchen, but that was by choice. We were on vacation, and as such, we did very little cooking. The hostess, Marza, however, invited us to dinner while we were there, and a five star feast was provided. This is something we were not expecting, but nevertheless was a beautiful gesture.

Problems or Bonuses

The surprises were, a nice bottle of wine along with a basket of assorted teas and cookies, and two five star dinners which she and her family prepared for us.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency and representatives were very professional and made all the arrangements so that it was easy for us.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would recommend this place to the pope.

Things to do in this area

The hostess, Marza, provided us with a booklet she made up providing us with suggestions on where to go and what to see and do. This booklet became our guide throughout the week and included a map which guided us on how to get from town to town. As for restaurants, everywhere we ate the food was plentiful and good. The surprise meals provided by our hostess, however, overshadowed any restaurant. The surprise meals she provided were indescribably delicious.
