2bed/1.5bath apartment in San Marco, Venice

When

June 22-28, 2001

Review

We had a WONDERFUL stay at one of the Venice Rentals apartments this past June. I can't say enough great things about the rental agency/agents, the apartment, the value, the location and our experience. We had a wonderful home base which allowed us to feel at home and to not feel rushed to see all the sights. We shopped daily at the Rialto Market, fed pigeons in San Marco Plaza, ate great food and saw the typical sights but without the frenzy.

Who: Mike and Tonia from California (traveling with two kids ages 10 and 8).

When: June 22-28, 2001

Location: CONVENIENT! GORGEOUS LOCATION!!!! This is a conveniently located apartment in the heart of Venice. The apartment is immediately opposite one of the most beautiful palaces in Venice, the Scala del Bovolo. The view is breathtaking! It has its own roof-top terrace for sunny breakfasts. We were a two minute walk from San Marco Plaza. And a five minute walk from the Rialto Bridge. (And this is with two kids who love to stop at every statue and check out each gelato stand.)

We loved being so close to everything yet being out of the touristy parts. The kids loved winding their way through all the little lanes and alleys. It was a very quiet apartment.

Furnishings: The furniture was very comfortable and perfect for a family of four. We felt very at home.

Kitchen: The kitchen had everything we needed for putting together wonderful brunches each morning for roof-top dining.

Bedroom: We slept soundly in our queen bed. The kids slept equally soundly in their two twin beds in the other bedroom.

Bonuses: Denise & Maurizio! We expected to be left on our own, with no lifeline to English-speaking civilization after paying our rental fee (about $1100 which was a fantastic value on its own). We were delighted that Denise met us at the boat, gave us a guided tour of Venice on our way to the apartment followed by an overview and orientation of the rest of Venice in our apartment. Additionally, she served as a private concierge, advising us about restaurants, setting up a tour to a wonderful glass factory on Murano, coached us about bargaining with gondoliers, and helped us book our return water taxi to the airport.

The biggest indicator of their helpfulness is when my husband's laptop refused to recognize an Italian dial tone. Maurizio came by the apartment a couple of times to drop off his own laptop (but we were out all day) and offered the services of his techie friend.

Agency and Representatives: Denise and Maurizio made this the perfect vacation. They really went out of their way to make the apartment comfortable for us. They are more than honest and trustworthy. They are super people too! With Venice Rentals, you get more than just a wonderful apartment--you get Denise and Maurizio. We plan to rent from them again, and again!
