Two apartments and cottage on a farm outside Montemelino, near Perugia, Umbria WhenOctober 2004, 7 days LocationLocated at the tiny hamlet of Montemelino, about 15 kilometres west of Perugia. Nearby AmenitiesThe nearest restaurants and bars are about 3 kilometres from the property. Nearest supermarket is about 6 kilometres, but there is a small general store about 2 kilometres away. The House/ApartmentA restored farmhouse, in which the owners live. They have a couple of B&B rooms, a cottage which is separate from the main house, and an apartment on the ground floor of the main house which we rented. Although part of the main house it is very private with its own entrance, and private terrace. The apartment is large for 2 people. GardenA beautiful private terrace with lovely views is attached to the apartment. There is also a shared swimming pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment is very well furnished, for 2-3 people. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe queen bed was very comfortable, although we would have liked a wider blanket as the nights start to cool down in October. The bathroom was quite large by Italian bathroom standards, with a bath/shower. Also airy and bright. KitchenThe kitchen in this apartment is outstanding ... it has a central island cooktop set into a large marble bench, & good overhead and bench lighting. Modern stainless steel appliances, including a large fridge and 6-burner gas cooktop. Also a dishwasher. This is a chefs kitchen. Problems or BonusesThe kitchen and the equipment in the kitchen was way above our expectations. The owners Megan & Lino have a wealth of local information to share with their guests, and which we found very helpful. Agency and Representatives (and price)Booked through the owners who live on-site. Megan is Australian and her husband Lino is Italian, but he speaks excellent English. The property was accurately represented. WE paid 550 euros in october plus a cleaning charge which I think was 25 euros. We thought this represented very good value for the quality of the property. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?WE would recommend the property, both for its quality and for its close proximity to Perugia and many other interesting towns in Umbria and southern Tuscany. If we wanted to visit this area again we would be happy to stay at this property. Things to do in this areaVisits to many towns of interest ... Assisi, Perugia, Lake Trasimeno, Deruta (for ceramics), Gubbio (for ceramics) and many hill towns ... most of them with an ancient and beautiful "centro storico" (central old town).
