Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 1260: InTuscany, Villa Palazzotto
6bed/7bath villa in Monterchi, Tuscany East
9/25/2004 - 10/02/2004, one week
The villa was in the hilltop village of Monterchi - 30 minutes east of Arrezzo. It was in town and on the Piazza. While it was close to other buildings the villas gardens and interior were very private. We loved the sunsets each night from the upper garden. The view from the villa was breath taking.
One of the best restaurants, "Al Travato", in our visits to Italy was just steps away from the Villa. We ate their on four different occasions including our last night in the Villa, when the owner shut down the restaurant to serve just the 12 of us from the Villa. There is another restaurant and coffee shop within easy walking distance of the Villa. There are two small grocery (general merchandise - wine, beer, newspapers, groceries, etc) and one large grocery store within walking distance. Everyone in the village on Monterchi were very friendly.
The Villa was in excellent shape. It could not have been better. All the bedrooms were large and confortable. The living area and kitchen were large and interesting as to the decorations and pictures. The gardens were well groomed and we had cleaning service 3 of the 7 days we were at the Villa. Everything was first class and comfortable.
There were two outside private sitting ares and a pool on the upper level.
Everything was comfortable and clean. There was more then enough room for the 12 of us and guests.
All of the bedrooms were large, well furnished and confortable. Each bedroom had a bathroom and there was an additional bathroom off the kitchen.
A very usable kitchen. Some of our group ate and prepared meals there while others dined out. The kitchen was fully equipped. On one night the owner, her mother and daughter prepared a meal for the 12 of us using the kitchen.
Problems or Bonuses
All surprises were good. The owner was fantastic. She gave us a tour of her father's lab. The town was unbelievable friendly and the restaurant "Al Travato" was just fantastic. The restaurant's food and its owners could not have been better or more hospitable. Anyone that is in the area should make "Al Travato" a destination.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The agency were excellent - everything was as advertised.
Price per week was approximately $3600 US.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Would recommend the Villa Palazzetto to anyone. We are already looking for dates to return. The only qualification I would make, is that you need to be in relatively good physical shape to climb up and down the streets of Monterchi.
Things to do in this area
Restauarant "Al Travato" is a must for anyone who visits the area.
You are in easy drives of Arezzo (train to Florence) and all the hill town of eastern Tuscany and the Chianti region is only about an hours drive away.
