This was our second trip to Venice and as we were going to be there for all of December we wanted an apartment that was a bit larger and better equipped than we'd have used for a week rental. We were also quite specific about the area we wanted to stay in - either Dorsoduro or San Polo. With our son joining us for the last 2 weeks and friends also visiting for a few days we needed 2 bedrooms, a large and comfortable living area, fully equipped kitchen and clothes washer as well as good storage for clothes and preferably two bathrooms.

We contacted a large number of rental agencies, as well as individual renters and were most impressed with the promptness, excellent information and apartment selection offered by Denise at Venice Rentals. We ended up choosing apartment 'San Toma' a slightly larger apartment than planned as it has 3 bedrooms, but it was in an excellent location and with a significant discount for the month, not really any more expensive than most of the others that we looked at.

Meeting Denise went perfectly as instructed we phoned from the airport and agreed a time to meet at the San Toma vaporetto stop. We waited only a few minutes before Denise arrived and showed us to the apartment pointing out local shops and restaurants on the way.

The apartment 'San Toma' is one of two on the 1st and 2nd floor in the building with the owner living on the top (3rd) floor. It's at the very quiet end of Rio Terra dei Nomboli, not far from Campo San Toma.

We had the apartment on the first floor. There's a large entry hall which then opens onto the living room. Two two seater sofas, another smaller sofa and chairs as well as coffee table and a TV, a dining room table and seating for six made this a very usable and comfortable room with two large windows providing lots of light.

The kitchen is long and narrow, very well equipped with stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a small table and chairs. The crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots and pans etc. (often the low point of holiday rentals) was excellent with equipment of good quality and an excellent selection provided.

There were three bedrooms, one with a queen size bed, the others with two singles each. All had wardrobes and cupboards. Two bathrooms completed the apartment. A large one adjoining the main bedroom had a bath with shower over it as well as the washing machine, the other a shower.

The apartment also had a large storage cupboard with iron, ironing board, cleaning equipment and portable fans for use during the summer.

As we were staying in the apartment for a month we were given a significant discount on the normal rental of this wonderful apartment. We did however pay separately for the metered cost of gas (heating and hot water) and electricity. The utilities came to 270 euro for the month.

The apartment was just perfect. Wonderful location, beautifully and spotlessly presented and wonderfully equipped.

We also can't speak highly enough of Venice Rentals and the friendly and professional service they provided. They were extremely prompt in all of our pre-trip emails, only offering us apartments that fitted our criteria (unlike many of the other agents) and providing us with very well thought out information about our arrival as well as information about staying in Venice. Both our arrival and departure dealings with them went smoothly and easily.

I'd highly recommend this apartment, and more particularly this agency to anyone planning a trip to Venice.
