2bed/1.5bath apartment near Rialto bridge, Venice WhenFebruary 2005, 3 days LocationExcellent location between the Rialto bridge and San Marco, just off Campo San Lio. Nearby AmenitiesThere is a fairly complete grocery store a minute or two away on Salizada San Lio, along with a compepetent backery, a butcher and a few produce shops. And of course the Rialto market is just over the bridge. Reasonable wine store right around the corner with decent selection (for Venice). Can't comment on restaurants, as we didn't eat out. The House/ApartmentA nicely appointed apartment with a small but fully equipped kitchen. There was plenty of space for our family of four. The master bedroom was quite large, with lots of closet and dresser space, and a spacious full bathroom. Our 5 year old had his own little room, while our toddler slept in a crib, which they had available. There is also a double hide-away bed. The main room was quite large, with a table that could comfotably seat six. There was plenty of hot water, and we were quite warm in failry cold weather. I noticed an air conditioner as well. GardenNo terrace or balcony. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasAll the furniture was attractive and comfortable, if perhaps on the plain side. Bedrooms/BathroomsGood beds, and peaceful bedrooms. Bathrooms in excellent shape. It was nice to have the extra toilet, in addition to the full bathroom in the master bedroom. KitchenVery functional kitchen. You can, and we did, cook. Four-burner range, oven, lots of pots, dishwasher, plenty of plates, glasses and cutlery. (We were, however, happy that we brought our own kitchen knives.) Problems or BonusesGiven that this is Venice, loads of space was a bit of a surprise. Agency and Representatives (and price)A representative from the agency was there to meet us at our somewhate late arrival time. Due to flight problems, we were there much later than planned, and they accommodated us. We were shown how to use everything, and given clear rules about garbage, etc, all in English. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I have no hesitation in recommending this appartment to other families, or even two couples. For the record, we payed 560 euros for 3 nights. Not rock bottom, but definite value in this city. Things to do in this areaIn such a central area, there are things to do all over. But if you like fish, don't miss the chance to shop at the Rialto market. Look for something from the lagoon (origin is clearly marked). Increadibly fresh, and a unique experience that you'll remember forover. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
