1bed/1bath apartment near San Lorenzo, Florence WhenJuly 2003, 1 week LocationIt is located on Borgo San Lorenzo which is the street that connects the Piazza del Duomo with the San Lorenzo Market and the Medici Chapel. A truly unbelievable location for the price. Nearby AmenitiesThe San Lorenzo market is right around the corner and we went there frequently for supplies. There are also a lot of restaurants ... our favorite was the Osteria dell'Agnolo, located right across the street. The House/ApartmentThe building was in great shape and we felt very safe there. The walls of the building are very thick so you're never bothered by neighbors. GardenNo outside sitting area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was spotless and everything was in great working order. There was a large dining table with four chairs, a couch and an easy chair in the living area. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe queen-sized bed was extremely comfortable. It is a loft bedroom which we loved. There is one bathroom with marble fixtures. The shower is under the eaves of the house so be careful not to bump your head on the timbers :) and try to be as short as possible. KitchenThe kitchen was very usable, it was a little short on pots and pans but we managed to cook a couple of full meals & really enjoyed it. Problems or BonusesWe were surprised at how well-suited the apartment was for a couple. It was our first time renting a vacation rental and we didn't know how well the photos would match up with the experience, but it was above and beyond. Agency and Representatives (and price)We dealt directly with the owner, Gianna, who is very good about getting back to you quickly and answering all of the questions that you have. She really set my mind at ease about renting online from a stranger and then delivered the goods she promised. We paid 650 euros a week (in 2003) and for the comfort and location in the middle of the high season it was a steal. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?YES!! and I would send all my friends there!!! my only qualification is that there is no lift, so get ready to walk. But if us two heavy smokers can do it, then so can you. Things to do in this areaUh...everything? Seriously, it's right in the middle of the tourist area so all the sights are within easy walking distance. Don't leave without hitting the Osteria dell'Agnolo and the wine shop across the street ... the couple that runs it are American expats and incredibly friendly and helpful.
