1bed/1bath house in Civitella Marittima, Tuscany West WhenNov 30 - Dec 11, 2004, 1 1/2 weeks LocationI stayed in Casina di Rosa in Civitella Marittima from November 30 through December 11. The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating -- helping one to plan trips, and arrange extras, such as car rentals. The home was very clean, and exactly as presented on the website -- something that I personally worried about, since I just "stumbled across it" on the internet. This being my first trip to Europe, there were times that I was concerned that perhaps this rental was either a scam (since it is an owner represented property) or perhaps not as nice as the pictures indicate. I should NOT have worried. Casina di Rosa was and is a beautiful property -- in a QUIET village on a hilltop. The owners are concerned about making your stay in their home as good as possible, and are available for help whenever asked. In a HEARTBEAT I would return to Casina di Rosa -- I had a wonderful time, and the property was just like my own home away from home. Nearby AmenitiesI could walk to get coffee, and there are a few shops in the village, where I was able to walk purchase groceries. However, about 10 minutes away by car was 2 grocery stores, and a town with a bank and a train station for quick & easy travel. The House/ApartmentCasina di Rosa is an old stone home and was very quiet and well maintained. GardenThere was no outside sitting area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasI stayed at Casina di Rosa by myself, but there would have been plenty of room for 3-4 other persons. Bedrooms/BathroomsThere is one bedroom in Casina di Rosa, but others could have slept in the sitting room, which was nicely furnished also. KitchenThe kitchen is very nice -- well equiped and clean. It was nice to be able to cook my own meals rather than have to worry about making reservations for dinner! Problems or BonusesI visited during the beginning of December, and experienced a few thunder and lightening storms with the accompanying rain, and the only problem was a bit of a leaky ceiling in the kitchen, which the owners responded to in a very timely manner. I LOVE thunder and lightening storms and didn't mind at all being woke up by the thunder "boomers". Agency and Representatives (and price)Gloria and Marcel treat their guests like family and are extremely helpful to their guests. Their prices were very reasonable, and easy to pay via the internet. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would DEFINITELY stay here again -- I hope someday to return with my husband and share with him the beauty of this area. Things to do in this areaThis is a country area -- away from large cities, but close enough to trains to be able to visit the large cities, but not have to stay in them. From Casina di Rosa, I visited Pisa, Florence, and Venice, as well as several local attractions. Casina di Rosa is very close to Siena also. One of my favorite activities was visiting Bagni di Petriolo -- the local hot springs. Something that seemed like a "locals" activity. (Not many tourists seemed to visit there). I had to rent a car (and was advised that I should do this by the owners BEFORE renting from them) but driving in that area wasn't as scary as driving in major cities.
