apartments in castle near Florence, Tuscany Chianti WhenSummer 2004 LocationCastello in Bisticci is located in a fairytale, on top of a hill, above the clouds (in fact some mornings the valley below is hidden beneath a literal sea of fog), amidst scores of silver olive trees. Beautiful isn't strong enough, and unforgettable is too finite. Bisticci will shock you as you wake, whether its your first morning or your 600th. (And I'm not paid to comment!, I am just madly in love with this place and planning my return as soon as possible!) Nearby AmenitiesA 15 minute walk downhill will get you to a small and quaint grocery store. Also at the bottom of the hill is a great place for pizza. A 10 minute drive will get you to a town and a large grocery store and many restaurants. The House/ApartmentThe 2 bedroom apartment I stayed in is part of a house, which is really a castle! Extremely old ... and remarkable. The apartment is modern, however. Well equiped, very clean, gorgeous. Modern open air kitchen, and living room, with very high ceilings. It's furnished with a mix of beautiful antique and contemporary furniture. Along with this aparment, there is another above that is equally as enchanting. GardenEach renter has their own private garden which is a sectioned off portion, lush with flowers, fruit trees, and other plants. Every garden has their own gazebo too, with a table underneath. Also hammocks are available if you're so inclined to put your feet up in your garden! And not to mention, the gardens overlook the valley which is just ... well, I recommend you see for yourself someday! Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture was brand new and perfect. Apartment was immaculately clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsOne bedroom is large, perfect for two, and perhaps another! This larger bedroom has an alcove, which is a really nice sitting area, furnished with a small table and chairs. You can sit and look out your window, stare at your amazing view or down at your garden. The other bedroom is more fit for one; has a great desk! KitchenThe kitchen was amazing too! New stuff, shiny silver stove. Lots of utensils and equipment perfect for any size feast. Problems or BonusesThe bonus would have to be the amazing owners. A great sweet family that is so outgoing and generous. They really would do anything to accommodate. No problems for me. Agency and Representatives (and price)Did not deal with an agency but instead the owners directly. After seeing their website, I contacted them, and received a quick positive response. For the season I stayed and the length I was staying I paid a monthly rate of 1000 euro. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Highly, highly recommend. I can't wait to stay here again. Things to do in this areaMuch to do! For one thing, Florence is a half hour away! Also, nearby there is camping, hiking, and tons of olives and grapes and wine and delicious food. At the bottom of the hill which the castle is on is a small local bar with a lot of character and a really special pizza place.
