3bed/2bath apartment in Portofino, Liguria WhenAugust 2004, 1 week LocationThe apartment we stayed in is located right at the harbour of Portofino, directly on the important square of the village, close to the shops and restaurants. Fantastic VIP location. We felt like in a dream! Nearby AmenitiesGreat Italian coffee just down the stairs from the apartment. All restaurants within 50 meters. For small groceries there is the small traditional shops, but for 'big' groceries we went to Santa Margherita Ligure at 5 km (there are busses and ferry boats going there from Portofino). The House/ApartmentThe apartment is located in an historical Ligurian building, with one other apartment. It was on the second floor and very quiet. It gave us the feeling of being at home as it was very nicely decorated; with great Italian taste. It didn't look like a vacation rental, but more like some (rich) friends' house. GardenThe terrace was stunning: view of the harbour and the most important square. Enough space to relax and enjoy the view. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasGood Italian taste; both furniture and decorations. With enough space for all of us (5). The house was very clean. We also asked for extra daily cleaning and change of bed linen. Service like a good hotel, with the privacy of our own house. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedrooms were sufficient; good beds and each with private bathroom. KitchenThe kitchen was big. But we didn't use it as we went out for lunch and dinner every night. For breakfast we went to the bar, like real Italians... Problems or BonusesGreat sand beach of Paraggi at only 2 km! Agency and Representatives (and price)Very good service of the English speaking personnel. We booked via internet and what we saw is what we got. I don't remember how much we paid, but it was in proportion to the quality. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would recommend this place to anyone who would like to spend some time in the heart of Portofino. But from the website I know they also have lots of other nice properties (farmhouses, villas and apartments) in the near area of Portofino/Santa Margherita. Things to do in this areaWe did a cooking course, organized by the agency. Went also to the Cinque Terre. Hiking on the mount of Portofino, scuba diving, fishing, boat tours.
