We have always wished that we had family in Rome. After staying in Massimo and Biancamaria's flat, we feel that now we do! Our son has been studying in Rome, and we searched the web to find a warm, cozy and reasonably priced place to stay. Did we luck out! Not only was the apartment a true gem (great location, wonderful view), but Massimo and Biancmaria took our 16 year old under their generous wings, taking him out for pizza, gelato, taking him to a Da Vinci exhibition and helping him get settled.

When we arrived, we felt so at home! They lent us an extra cell phone, introduced us to their friends, invited us to coffee and joined us for dinner on our last day in Italy. We have continued an email friendship and they have continued to be extended family for our son in Rome. We can't wait to return and we hope that the friendship will continue for life. They are amazingly warm and generous people, and our experience underscores why we travel--to forge new connections and to blur the divisions between people and countries. And who knows, maybe their daughter, four year old Delfina, will study in the US one day and we can return the generosity?
