Review 1413: Umbria Holiday Rentals, Terrazza Bella

Review by Pat and Henry from KS who is a SlowTrav Contributor

2bed/1bath apartment in Spoleto, Umbria

March 2005, 4 days

The apartment was located in an historic building on the edge of the historical center. The first floor of the building is businesses (upscale clothing store and the like) so there was a key to get to the elevator and stairwell, a key for the elevator and a key for the apartment.

Nearby Amenities

There was a bar within 50 meters of the apartment and a restaurant within 100 meters. The grocery store was about five blocks away. The train station was a ten to fifteen minute walk.

The House/Apartment

The building was in great shape and the apartment was very quiet. There were several other apartments in the building but because of the arrangement you were only likely to see the next door neighbors, not a rental.

There was a nice large terrace with table and chairs surrounded by flowers and plants.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

La Terrazza was a very nice apartment. Everything was very clean and comfortable. There were two comfortable couches and a day bed in the living/dining room as well as a table and four chairs. The TV had satellite and VHS and a couple dozen movies.

The bedrooms which are not shown on the website were very nice with double beds, dressers and armoires. There was a very small balcony that looked out over the street. The bathroom was large and had a tub.

The kitchen had everything you needed to prepare a meal and the refrigerator was stocked with wine, cheese, beer, vegetables, milk etc. The cupboards were stocked with cereal, pasta, coffee, sugar, salt etc. Everything was of high quality from the pots and pans to the stemware. A dishwasher and microwave were available.

Problems or Bonuses

Laurie made sure that we knew how to work the appliances and pointed out their basket of tourist information and a couple of pages of emergency numbers and suggestions for trips and restaurants and told us to call him if there were problems or we needed anything. He also arranged to pick us up and take us to the train station on our departure as well as pick us up on arrival.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We rented through the owners and were very pleased. Being an English couple language was not a problem. The apartment was actually nicer than the website photos. We paid 100 euro a night for four nights in Marcxh.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would highly recommend this apartment to family and friends.

Things to do in this area

Osteria di Matto, about fifty feet down an alley in the middle of Piazza Mercanto was great.
