Review 1479: Le Manzinaie, Rose Apartment
apartments on estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South
May 21 - 28, 2005, 1 Week
Le Manzinaie is located about 6 miles from the town of Montepulciano. You drive through several town to reach the farmhouse. It's in a rural area.
You can walk to Stazione Montepulciano, I'm guessing it would be about a 10 min walk-or a very short drive if you have a car. There is a grocery store in Stazione Montepulciano and a few restaurants & shops nearby as well.
The farmhouse has been restored and Marzia, Fiore,& Alicia have done a wonderful job maintaining the grounds. There are four apartments for two people (& maybe a small child) and there is a separate villa with 2 bedrooms. It truly is a peaceful and relaxing place. There were other guests while we were there, but you would have never known.
The grounds made it feel so serene. The farmhouse is on approximately 2.5 acres of land that include beautiful landscaping, a swimming pool with chairs to relax, umbrellas to cover the sun, & a covered area where you can eat. The areas were shared but there was plenty of room for everyone. There was also an area to BBQ.
The apartment was spotless when we arrived. Everything looked fairly new. We stayed in the Rose Apartment and were very happy with the accommodations. There was a stove top, sink, and color TV with cable. In addition to the dinning table with four chairs, there was also a sofa.
We had a comfortable queen size bed and a large bathroom with a hydro massage tub in addition to the shower. The bathroom was big and clean. They provided travel size soaps, shampoo and conditioner. We had a change of towels midweek at no extra charge. We liked the detail in the stenciling in our room that Marzia did herself.
We used the stove to make breakfast before we left on our day trips to explore Tuscany. There was also plenty of dishes, cups, wine glasses, pots, and pans to use in case you were making a big dinner.
Problems or Bonuses
Our big surprise was when Marzia invited us to have dinner with the other guests once during our stay. When we walked in to their reception room, they had a long table beautifully set up for our dinner. It was the best Tuscan dinner that we had. They served bruschetta, lasagna, bread, sausage, ribs, chicken, potatoes, and fig or pear, or both for dessert with dessert wine. We had natural or fizzy water and wine. We booked fairly early (Sept.'04) & were given a 10% discount.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
I booked through Tuscany.net. It was an easy process. I had to communicate several times via email with Marzia and Alicia requiring police station and hospital information since my husband is in the military, and they were both helpful in sending me the information needed.
They were always available for anything we needed. They offered an itinerary and recommendations for places to eat. Marzia, Fiore, and Alicia all speak English - Alicia a bit better so she serves as the intrepreter.
We were pleased when we arrived to see that everything was as the website promised.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would absoulutely recommend this location to anyone who is seeking a wonderful place to stay in Tuscany. I have no complaints whatsoever. I would have liked to extend our stay and skip Rome but the apartment was already booked.
You can beat the hospitality. I could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay and we plan to go back soon!
Things to do in this area
We did day trips to Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena, Florence, Montalcino, San Gimignano, Sant'Animo Abbey, etc. Florence was only an hour away by car and San Gimignano was about and hour and a half.
