Review 1550: Amalfi Coast Rental (Primula), Tari

Review by helle kriegbaum from Denmark

apartment in Amalfi, Campania

April 2005, 7 days

The location of the apartment rented through Amalfi Coast Rental was in the middle of the idyllic town of Amalfi, right on the Amalfi coast in Italy. This is my second time I visit to the town and I have to admit that itís the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Try to imagine the landscape: the magnificent blue ocean on one side, the mountains with lemon groves and small picturesque villages on the other. Amazing! So if you are looking for the charming Italy, youíll find it here!

Nearby Amenities

Amalfi is a small town with 7000 habitants. We lived in the center of the town where youíll find a lot of charming restaurants and shopping possibilities. Everything is so close; itís literally at the end of the stairs of the apartment. Whatever you can imagine of fresh fruit, vegetables, exotic fish and wonderful cheeses Ė you will find here.

The House/Apartment

We lived in an old building with southern ambiance close to the main square with the amazing Saint Andrea Dome. It was the only apartment in the building and we were only surrounded by locals. It was quiet isolated and totally quiet and private. The high apartment was in fine condition, the building filled with ambiance. The stairs to the apartment were quiet steep and can not be recommended for mobility-impaired people.

No garden was available, but the apartment had a lovely terrace where you had the most fantastic view over Amalfi and the ocean. Whether you enjoyed your breakfast or a lovely dinner with a nice glass of chilled white wine, the view was magnificent. Watching the sunset in the gold mosaics of Saint Andrea was just breathtaking.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment is small, but perfect for two people. Itís no luxury, but it contains the basics. And the terrace compensates for the missing luxury. Everything is in good condition, the place is comfortable and clean. We had all we needed; chairs, sofa, beds and you could see the ocean from the living room.

The bedroom is placed in the middle of the apartment. No windows. But the beds were very comfortable and we slept like babies with dreams of the many beautiful impressions we had gathered through the day. There was a small bathroom with a shower and what else was needed.

Our holiday was not based on home cooked meals. We usually had our dinner at one of the lovely restaurants, but now and again we made a salad at home. The apartment has a stove and a sink in the corner of the living room. It worked perfectly. I can easily imagine that itís possible to cook a complete meal, even though the space is limited.

Problems or Bonuses

The biggest surprise for us was the location of the apartment. Climbing the stairs was not the easiest task but it was all worth it. The privacy and the magnificent view were worth every step.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

During both booking and the financial transfer I only experienced friendliness and forthcoming people from the agency. We had a very nice communication. The agency arranged transportation from/to Naples airport and met us when we arrived. We felt well informed. We paid a weekly price of 490Ä in April.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I very much recommend the apartment and I sincerely hope that I will be back next year. The locals are very friendly and treat you like a member of the family. They are always greeting you. I like the personal atmosphere, being recognized at the restaurants even though it was only the second time we had dinner.

I cannot recommend this place to disabled people or small children due to the steep stairs.

Things to do in this area

There are lots of things to do in the area. You can do beautiful walks and hiking, boat trips a long the coastline. You may want to do excursions to Capri, Pompeji, Vesuvio and so on. We experienced an unforgettable relaxed holiday with sun, beauty and the great Italian cooking. Our favorite restaurant was Saint Andrea Pizzeria/Restaurant at Piazza Duomo, where you will find good food at favorable prices and very nice service.
