apartment in a villa near Poggibonsi, Tuscany Chianti WhenJune 2005, 1 week LocationLocated just outside the small towns of Barberino and Tavernelle in Val d´Elsa lies the Villa il Borrocio, beautifully situated in the Tuscan landscape. Private, secure, with picturesque view, close to shopping and the towns of Poggibonsi and San Gimignano, not far from Florence and Siena. The property was in good shape, a lovely garden and a nice swimming pool. Nearby AmenitiesIt is possible to walk but better to drive to do your shopping, a big grocery store was in Poggibonsi 7-8 minutes away. Restaurants and cafés in all the small towns nearby, with a great restaurant, La Fattoria, 5-6 minutes away. The House/ApartmentThe building was in good shape, not old, peaceful, still with the environment full of life. The house is situated on the street, with a private locked gate, parking space, terrazzo where you could eat out during any time of the day with a beautiful view of the towers of San Gimignano. The swimming pool was below the house in the garden, on the way there you pass another apartment which is separate, another small guesthouse is a bit further apart, and the owner´s apartment in the other end of the house, out of view. In the surroundings are olivetrees and a wineyard. GardenA lovely private sitting are, a big clean shared pool, no children's pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasClean house, nice bathrooms, fine furniture with enough of everything for two families of four. Bedrooms/BathroomsGreat master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, fine two other bedrooms and extra sleeping place in the living room. The ensuite bathroom had a bathtub, the one on the groundfloor a large nice shower, plenty of hot water. KitchenAdequate kitchen with everything to prepare a simple meal, like pasta, but one does not maybe cook a big meal when not surrounded by one own´s things, but we made great food, being in a country with such great material for making fine cuisine. Problems or BonusesNo bad ones, the best one was to discover that the beauty in the photos from the website was no understatement! Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency is great, with personal service and good followup. Onsite, the keyholder does not speak English, but it did not establish a problem for us, she was very friendly and all went smoothly. The price was I think $1200 for the week, a fair price. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I am definitely going back, it is very beautiful and a great place to serve as a "mothership" for your travels in Tuscany. Things to do in this areaVisit the nearby towns of Poggibonsi, with fine shopping and a great restaurant on the town square, San Gimignano with great food and wine and towers to climb, wineyards, Siena with beautiful sights.
