apartments on an estate near Poggibonsi, Tuscany Chianti WhenJune 25 - July 2, 2005, One week LocationApartment with a separate entrance within a lovely, rambling old house on a horse farm situated on gorgeous rolling hills of central Tuscany. 6 km from very centrally situated Poggibonsi. 11 km from San Gimignano. About 35 km south of Florence, and about 20 km northwest of Siena. Nearby AmenitiesEasy drive. The town of Poggibonsi is just 6 km away. Large grocery supermarket, only about 2-3km from the property. The House/ApartmentThe old stone house seemed to be of historic vintage, but was fully rehabbed inside. Entrance into small living/dining room and adjacent galley kitchen. Bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Private veranda opening off the bedroom. Beautiful swimming pool just about 50 feet away. Completely quiet. Three other apartments with separate entrances. Convenient parking. Gorgeous rolling hills and horse farm. GardenOur veranda was private. The large swimming pool was beautifully kept up; very comfortable and no other people were there whenever we used it (morning and evening). We could stroll all over the entire property, including the horse facilities which were several hundred meters from the house. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasComfortable and clean. Furniture was in good shape and certainly adequate for two people. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedroom was large, with high ceiling. Comfortable bed. One large bathroom with shower stall. Plenty of hot water. Soap was not provided, so we bought a bar. KitchenThe kitchen was small, but had a small refrigerator-freezer, a sink, and a stove. Unfortunately, no utensils or pots and pans or dishes. We bought utensils for us and paper plates. We did not intend to cook, but ate fruit, cheese, and cereal, and drank juice and soft drinks. Problems or BonusesEverything was fabulous (no kidding), except the lack of utensils, etc. in the kitchen and soap in the bathroom. These were small nuisances, and we simply bought what we needed. The apartment was quiet and comfortable and the pool and grounds were great. Extremely well situated as a base for automobile travel around Tuscany. Note from Pauline: It is not usual to be provided with soap in vacation rentals but most rental provide kitchen things (it is unusual that this one did not). Agency and Representatives (and price)RentVillas personnel were great, and provided service above and beyond what one might expect. The onsite person was helpful but unobtrusive. He spoke English fluently. The reality of the apartment and the locale were even better than we expected from the description and photos on the website. The total price (all included, including the agency rental fee) was only $859. My wife and I would gladly return. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely! I have already answered this with candor above. Just remember to buy soap and any kitchen utensils, pots, etc. you might need. Things to do in this areaEasy day trips to Florence, San Gimignano, the Chianti Region, Siena, Montalcino and Montepulciano, and even down to coast and over to Elba for a half-day.
