2bed/2bath house in Praiano, Campania
WhenJuly 9 - 16, 2005, 1 week LocationAbove town, next to a canyon. Location was stunning, very private (just one house nearby to the right, owned by family of the owner) and quiet. Nearby AmenitiesNo road access. You must walk 160 steps to get to the house, which is part of the charm. Bus stop and great market are a ten minute walk away, town is a twenty minute walk. You should like to walk and be in good shape to stay at this property, but it is worth it! The House/ApartmentThis is a beautiful new villa with all modern amenities including air conditioning. The view is unbelievable and the house very quiet. GardenOutside sitting area is private and gorgeous. There is a vegetable garden outside the master bathroom window, no pool, but an expansive terrace for sunbathing, eating outdoors, and relaxing. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasAll furniture was like new and very comfortable. House was immaculate. There were tables on the terrace, as well as in the kitchen and dining room. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were very large and comfortable, bedrooms nice and comfortable. Bathrooms clean and well-equipped, including hair dryer, toilet paper, cleaning products, soap, and iron. KitchenKitchen was wonderful, perfect for cooking full meals. There were many sets of dishes, a large refrigerator, gas stove, and washing machine for clothing (no dishwasher). Problems or BonusesView and house were much more beautiful than we expected. No traffic noise except for the distant sounds of mopeds and honking buses on the road below, which would be much worse in a hotel. We had an amazing week here! The only bad surprise was the many cats belonging to a house we passed on the way up the stairs to the villa. We fed several of them, and would recommend they be spayed and neutered and properly fed and cared for. They appeared undernourished and neglected. Agency and Representatives (and price)I can't recommend Summer in Italy enough. The house is very reasonably priced, probably because it does not have direct road access. If not for the stairs, they could probably charge twice as much. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes! I would recommend this villa to anyone. Be prepared for the stairs and walk to the market/bus stop/road. We love to walk and left Italy in great shape. If you are sedentary or have difficulty with stairs, this is probably not the villa for you. Things to do in this areaLa Brace restaurant is wonderful. Their pizza and ravioli are the best we had in Italy. Il Tutto per Tutti market has great produce and mozzerella di bufala. There is a beautiful and quite challenging hike you can take from the villa (take a left at the bottom of the stairs and follow the signs down the pedestrian pathway) that leads to an overlook over the coast that is incredible. Wear long pants and bring a lot of water! This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
