Review 1673: Rentvillas, Casa Fiorenza
2bed/2bath villa in Praiano, Campania
June/July 2005, 1 week
The views are spectacular! The property is located in a small town between Positano and Amalfi. The other cities were VERY crowded. We were so happy to return to our quiet villa at days end. We absolutely loved the quaintness of Praiano. The neighbors are all so friendly. One neighbor living above the barbershop was especially friendly. My baby and I looked up at the terrace every time we walked by and said Ciao.
We walked to the grocery story at the bottom of the hill every day for drinks, fresh breads, meats, and cheese. It is very close to the center of town. The hills were too steep for pushing a stroller or letting our little one walk, so we rented scooters to get back and forth for running errands and used the town taxi.
The villa is situated on the upper road of Praiano. It was very spacious by European standards. There was a living room, small dining room, master and master bath, large kitchen and beautiful terrace on the first floor. The second floor had the second room and bath and entry to the roof top terrace. It was very clean and in great shape.
There was a beautiful terrace overlooking the coast just outside the kitchen. We spent many hours out there reading books, eating snacks, and sipping wine. You are surrounded by lovely flowers and trees.
Everything was in good shape and very comfortable. The house was extremely clean. The dining table has 4 chairs and the kitchen table is a large rectangle with 6 chairs.
The beds were a little hard, but nice overall. The master bath is large with a jacuzzi tub. The lighting isn't that great.
We used the kitchen almost every night to cook dinner. It was much easier with a baby and nice after a long day out exploring. It is fully stocked with pots, pans and lovely ceramic dishes.
Problems or Bonuses
No real problems, although it was REALLY hot with little breeze during the last week in June/first of July and sitting in the living room got warm. We wished there was a fan in the living room. Thank goodness for the AC in the bedrooms. It would have been unbearable without them.
A word of caution. We blew the fuse many times. Turn off the AC before running the washing machine or any kitchen appliances.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Everything was easy and smooth. Renting the villa was handled over the internet (although I did call with questions). The onsite person spoke perfect English and was very helpful. We even called her at 10:00pm when the fuse blew. She walked us through resetting it. It was perfectly described. We paid $2,615 for the week and it was well worth it. We were in Rome the week before and needed 2 rooms with the kids. It was so nice to have a house with room to spread out.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Everything about our vacation was perfect. Perfect house in a breathtaking location. We will definitely be returning!
Things to do in this area
We rented a private boat to go to Capri and up the coast. Definitely worth the extra money. We swam at secluded, crystal clear coves and lunched at a fabulous secluded restaurant. We also took a trip to Ravello. An absolute must. The views are out of this world. Our driver was GREAT. Took us to all the nice spots ... he also drove us to and from Rome and was very reasonable. He was recommended by Rentvillas. His name is Renato and can be reached at +39-339-1612081
There were two restaurants worth mentioning. There is a fantastic restaurant at the Marina Di Praia beach called Trattoria da Armandino. Very inexpensive and very good. For a pricey but exceptional meal go to the remote cove of Raccomanda, via boat. The food is out of this world.
