2bed/1bath cottage near Sassofortino, Tuscany West WhenJuly 23 - 30, 2005, one week LocationLo Scopetaccio is in a wonderful location. The house itself is in a beautiful setting in the countryside - lovely peaceful views, only 2 km. from the village of Sassafortino, a short walk on foot, with shops, bank and post office - Roccastrada is also close and good for shopping and restaurants. Lo Scopetaccio is an excellent base for day trips to the Maremma coast, Siena, Montalcino and all the fantastic villages that are nearby and too numerous to name here. It is also a perfect spot to simply unwind and drink in the beauty. Nearby AmenitiesEasy to walk to Sassafortino or even Roccastrada (about 10 km) - Lo Scopetaccio is about 45 km from Siena and 35 km from the national park on the coast. The House/ApartmentThe house is newly built and very well laid out and equipped. On the main floor is a large open concept livingroom and eat-in kitchen (with washing machine). The kitchen has everything you need to cook a feast. There is then a spiral staircase that goes down to the ground floor, which is at grade, since the house is built into the side of a hill - it has windows on three sides. On this floor are two bedrooms, one spacious master bedroom, and a second with bunkbeds. Modern bathroom with bidet and shower. Around the house is a lovely chestnut grove and lawn. In the evening it is all beautifully lit by outside globes ... or you can turn the lights off, and watch the stars! GardenLo Scopetaccio has a lovely porch to sit, read and have a glass of wine. A delightful surprise was the newly built swimming pool, which was not there when we booked the house. Around the pool is also a picnic table and benches to sit. Being in the countryside, there are also fields and walking paths to explore. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was new, clean, comfortable and in very good taste. The windows had screens. There were four of us (2 adults and 2 children) and we couldn't have asked for more! Bedrooms/BathroomsVery comfortable beds - great modern bathroom - and plenty of towels and linens! KitchenSee comments above - kitchen was well-equipped, and everything was brand new. Problems or BonusesLots of surprises and only delightful ones. We cannot say enough about our kind and generous hosts who obviously take great care and pride in Lo Scopetaccio. We were very lucky to meet them. Andrea and Laura are wonderful and helpful, and we wish them every success. Agency and Representatives (and price)Extraordinary value!! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?We would stay again at Lo Scopetaccio, and next time will stay longer. It would be easy to stay a month!! We were sad to leave after a week.
