apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenJune and July 2005, 1 week and 2 weeks LocationThe minute we drew up to the gates of Sant' Antonio and saw Nico's wide smile, we knew we had picked the perfect holiday destination. The converted monastry is just beautiful and the high standards go right throughout, not just the great pool but proper linen sheets and good quality crockery and glassware inside the very classy appartments. After picking Nico's brains about where to go and eat we had a fantastic holiday, even though the brand new hire car broke down on the second day. Nico realised what had happened and took control, after 2 hours of me getting nowhere on the phone our smiling host had things sorted out inside 20 minutes, our broken car was picked up a new one delivered the next day and a taxi booked for us for that evenings trip to a restaurant. These little extras add up to a totally hassle free and relaxing break. When you visit you must eat at Osteria del Leone restaurant (in Bagno Vignoni) which provides the best of Tuscan foods served on a lovely terrace by London trained staff but not at London prices; quite the best food ever. I am not usually driven to write reports like this but honestly we cannot praise Sant' Antonio and Nico highly enough. We have been to Italy and Tuscany many times but never have we been so thoroughly spoilt. I score it 10 out of 10, absolutely brilliant. Nearby AmenitiesWith the appartments being self catering, coffee could be made and then you wander outside to enjoy the view. The nearest shops are a mile away in Montepulciano where there are numerous shops of every kind and many excellent restaurants. The House/ApartmentSant' Antonio is a converted 13th century monastry in fantastic condition, it has been looked after to a very high standard. It is a peacefull location set in 200 acres of woodland, farmland and olive groves. There are 12 apartments of varying sizes and every apartment has outside space, but with the overall property set in such large grounds you are never short of a quiet corner. GardenThere is a lovely pool which is never overly busy all set in great grounds and fabulous gardens. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThis is another area where Sant' Antonio scores heavily; the place is well furnished and has proper linen sheets which are changed twice a week along with fluffy towels and decent cookware. Bedrooms/BathroomsSleeping was never a problem, very comfortable beds and well appointed bathrooms, some with baths. KitchenWe cooked in fairly regularly and were never found wanting in the kitchen. Problems or BonusesNico himself is the suprise. He is always there for advice or to help and he makes you feel so welcome. Agency and Representatives (and price)Nico speaks 7 languages and if anything Sant Antonio is better than the web site shows. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I have already booked for next year and would reccommend this place to anyone. I recommended it to a friend of mine and he visited with his fiance and is now booking his wedding there. Things to do in this areaToo many things to mention, but do visit Osteria Del Leone in Bagno Vignoni for superb food and La Porte in Montecchiello for the best view in Tuscany.
