Review 1796: Il Gusto del Paese, Fondo Le Teglie

Review by Charles C from US

4bed/4bath house near Todi, Umbria

May 2005, 6 days

This a newly renovated farmhouse located in the rolling hills approximately 10 miles from Todi. It is very isolated from other structures and has just amazing views of the valley and hillsides. The property is equipped with a state of the art kitchen which is open and freindly providing hours of entertainment with freinds. Additionally, the property offers several patios from which to dine, taking advantage of all aspects of the daily change! The pool also offers endless views of the countryside - great place for entertaining and relaxing.

In the evenings the two fireplaces add a soothing touch of relaxation to a day filled with exploring, dinning and wine. And finally the bedroom decor, and linens add the perfect touch for comfort for a fabulous night of rest.

This was my first trip to Umbria and I will be returning again to this property.

Nearby Amenities

The nearest place to get coffee or shop would best be done by driving. It is possible to hike it but would make for a long morning. The property is equipped with an espresso machine and coffee to enjoy the sunrise at the villa. Having coffee with the morning sun coming onto the property beats sitting in a coffee shop. Recommend coffee or cocktails during the day in Todi. There is a fabulous Restaurant located at the castle, just a stones throw away from the property - recommend at least one night out there for dinner.

The House/Apartment

The property is newly rennovated and is in fantastic shape. It is extremely quiet!

The property offers several sitting areas: Pool; Front of the house looking onto the valley and hill sides; The patio which separates the house from the owner's apartment. This location offers a pizza oven and built in BBQ. A great place for parties and evening dinner.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

All the furniture was brand new. Extremely well docorated with classic modern decor. It is very warm and inviting.

Two master bedrooms with baths. Two other bedrooms with shared bath. Additional bathroom with shower downstairs. Rooms are separated well and is very quiet in the evenings.

The kitchen is one of the highlights of the property. The owner held nothing back by building and equipping the highly functional and beautiful kitchen. This was the place where we spent a good deal of our time creating fantastic italian dinners - in the process we consumed countless bottles of wine as well.

Problems or Bonuses

There is nothing bad about Il Gusto Paese. On the contrary, it is all good. I had seen pictures of the property before I arrived and although it looked great, they didn't do it justice. It is truely a fantastic property. My week vacation there left me relaxed and completely satisfied. I am already planning a return trip with my family and friends for yet another great vacation.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Owner speaks English and is fantastic.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Like I said earlier, I am already planning another trip. Highly recommended!!

Things to do in this area

Day trips in and around the property are countless. Todi offers a great afternoon of walking the streets and getting some of the best Gelato ever!! Assisi is about an hour drive and also offers a great day of hikes in this historical city. Countless restaurants flourish - don't think you can go wrong anywhere you go. Also, if you are an avid biker recommend you bring your equipment. The rolling hills will test even the most in shape rider. I also recommend renting a high end sports car! I rented a Chrysler Crossfire convertible and was happy I did. The roads are made for these type of cars.
